Privacy policy

Last updated September 28, 2026

Pronunciation App (“we”, “us”) operates pronunciationapp.com. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. In short: we collect as little as possible.

The pronunciation tool

Text-to-speech and speech recognition are provided by your web browser through the Web Speech API. The text you type and the audio you speak are not sent to or stored on our servers. Depending on your browser, the browser vendor (for example Google, Microsoft or Apple) may process speech on its own servers under its own privacy policy.

When you click a word to see its phonetics, only that single word is sent to the free Free Dictionary API to retrieve its pronunciation and definition.

Information stored on your device

We use your browser’s local storage to remember preferences such as your chosen accent, speed, theme and the last text you typed. This data never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Contact form

If you contact us, we receive your name, email address and message and use them only to reply to you. We do not sell or share this information.

Cookies

The contact form uses a single session cookie to protect against spam and forged submissions.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show adverts, which keeps this tool free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.

Third-party services

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Links to social networks take you to third-party sites with their own privacy policies.

Children

Our tool is suitable for learners of all ages and does not require any personal information. Parents are welcome to use it together with their children.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time; the date above shows the latest revision. Questions? Email info@pronunciationapp.com.
